April 22, 2018

Go shawty, it’s ya Earth Day!

The 22nd of April is officially Earth Day, and although we believe everyday should be treated this way, this year has a strong focus on ending plastic pollution.

Did you know…(insert doom music*)

- If we don't make a change, by 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish.

- There is already more plastic than plankton in the Pacific Ocean... yes plankton!

- BPA presence found in plastic is having a negative effect on our health due to the ingestion of plastic particles through polluted food and water sources.

And we haven't even included the impacts on wildlife or the environment in general.

EEK!

I know, I know…you recycle so you're sweet right?
Not quite, did you know that only around 5% of plastic around the world is actually recycled?
PLUS, thanks to single use plastic bags from supermarkets, water bottles etc we now produce more plastic than ever before!
Even our friends in China have stopped accepting materials from other countries because of the high contamination rates and environmental impacts plastic has caused.

So…How can we help?

The good news is we aren't alone, it's up to all of us to reduce plastic waste and become more mindful of our choices, it just takes a little bit of prep and making the switch between certain products and our actions.
The bonus is, it's not that hard AND it will end up saving you a bit of money alongside our planet…Can't argue with that!

We've come up with some easy switches to help reduce your day to day plastic consumption:

1: Water Bottle:

Forget buying a little water bottle from the servo on your way to your morning cardio and invest in a big re-usable bottle that also keeps your water cold!

2: Reusable Cup:

You’ve seen them, yes they are cute and you need one!
Big ones, small ones, travel cups are a great way to help reduce the consumption of waste.
TIP - Some café's will even give you a discount for bringing your own cup.

 3: Shopping Bags:

Treat yo self and invest in a cool cloth or string bag and say 'no' to plastic, they are stronger, can fit more and will help save the planet.

4: Nuts About Life Recycle Program:

Have you eaten all your ‘Nuts About Life’ goodies and are wondering what to do with all your left over packaging bags?
Send them back to us for FREE using the return envelope included in your latest Nutty order!

By returning your ‘Nuts About Life’ packaging bags to our head office, you will automatically receive 10% off your next order.

If you return 10 empty packaging bags or more, you will also receive a free gift with your next online order as our thanks to you!

When it comes to our environment, we’re hardly perfect, but we make it a priority to become better informed and endeavour to take the necessary steps to reduce the impact ‘Nuts About Life’ has on the environment.

Currently, we are doing all that we can to reduce our carbon footprint, by shipping our products through Sendel (the only 100% carbon neutral courier company) and push to use recycled paper and minimal packaging within our offices, manufacturing and distribution facilities.

We recycle all our cardboard boxes, papers, compatible plastics, post bags and are continually looking for new ways to address these concerns while providing our customers with complete satisfaction and safety.

It’s a start, but we have a long way to go!
